The Alien, the Ally, and--ARMAGEDDON!!

About the Time Period- This is sort of a focal point for a lot of great stories. After the separation of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the team went through a number of changes, although they always seemed to keep their book in the tradition that it belonged in. The Thing went berserk in the earlier issues and the Torch and him tore up the town. With the town against them, and with Crystal out of the picture (due to her near death due to her lack of resistance to the pollution in the atmosphere), he team was at their worst. What a time for Reed to turn against them and to join up with the Overmind, one of the most powerful villains ever. Thus the story starts at this point.

Synopsis-
Take a classic Dr. Doom, mix in a couple of even more classic batch of characters, with a bit of John Buscema art, and presto, you have a true collectors piece. This issue is the sum total of why the series is great. Even when Dr. Doom joins the team briefly. The beginning of Sue's leadership skills are brought out here as well as the rest of the personalities in the book.

Best Moments- John Buscema has always been my favorite artist, so the art is what sold me. Jack Kirby's devices are brought back perfectly and the story is one that will outshine others for decades to come.

Weak Points- There were no weakpoints in the story line. This is true magic in the realm of Marvel

Over all rating- 4 out of 4 flares. Another Classic.
