The Frightful Four

About the Time Period- Reed was believed dead, Ms. Marvel was mutated by Dr.Doom and put into stasis, Ant-Man was on the team, and the fans were ticked off. Far from being a high point in the book

Synopsis-
The Wizard makes a comeback and joins the Red Ghost and his Super Apes, Klaw, and the Mutated Ms. Marvel together to finish off the team. The story isn't all that bad, it's just the way it plays out. Ant Man versus Klaw, no contest, yet he defeats Klaw with static. Roy Thomas is one of the greatest story tellers to date, but since Marvel at this point was forcing story lines to their writers, it seems obvious that it wa Marvel's doing for such a bad story line and not the writer.

Best Moments- The sonic ants were a nice touch as was the basis for the story line. Aside from that, not much else.

Weak Points-
Where to start. Ant-Man and Sue in love almost, how about Ms.Marvel against her teammates before vanishing forever, how about a weaker Sue, or crappy artwork (Herb Trippe was great at one point, but in this issue his work is sloppy). All of this adds to one of the worst issues ever. Nuff'' Said. Sean writes in to say "The art was horrible.  But it wasn't really Herbe's fault.  Were you aware that he was told to draw like Rob Liefeld in this book, or hit the road?  This came shortly before he and other Marvel veterans were fired anyway. The way Marvel treated him and others is a disgrace" Many thanks Sean.

Over all rating-  1 out of 4 flares.
