Big Town-Women at Work

Synopsis- As the wedding of Johnny and Sally Juarez approaches, the armies of the Red Skull build and the Ultrons' kill the power to Big Town. The shields drop and the town is invaded by a horde of Altanteans, the Brotherhood (an evil version of the X-men), the Silver Surfer and the Knights of Doctor Doom. The X-Squad, the Avengers, and the Fan Four fight off the invasion, while Reed and Iron Man attempt to bring power back to the fallen city. During the battle, Susan discovers that the Cosmic Energy that gave them their powers is killing Johnny's pregnant wife. Reed and Iron Man succeed in restoring Big Town and freeing the Surfer from Doom's Control which he quickly goes to defeat his captor, Doctor Doom. With the power restored to Big Town, the invading forces flee, but not before Quicksilver kills Hawkeye. Johnny flees in sorrow after finding his wife dead and everything returns to normal in Big Town.

Best Moments- Book 3 was a lot better than this. There was t
oo much going on at once. The battle alone could of taken up two books. Although the surrealistic change was really great. It brought out a feel that the book never had, but maybe they should. The art was off, but very solid. It looked different from the classic Marvel and the solid "Kirby like" shapes really added to the work.

Weak Points- The book seemed too different. With more than three characters fighting per panel, it went too quickly. A story of each team fighting might of worked better than to pan back and forth. But maybe the point wasn't to focus on the battle, but on the overall story.

Over all rating-2 1/2 out of 4 flares.
