Synopsis-After the near destruction of the
book and extremely drawn out story lines over the past three years,
fans were over welmed to hear the news of the coming of Carlos Pacheco,
best known for the dramatic series Avengers
Forever. "Maybe it was the appearances of multiple
X-Men leftovers," says a long time fan, "or maybe it was Reed as
Doctor Doom re-marring Susan or maybe it was their daughter from
the distant future, or maybe it was just everything. Chris Clairmount
may have been a decent X-Men writer at one time, but his time is
over. I pray that the X-Men book doesn't get the same
treatment." Surprisingly he wasn't the only disgrental fan. Many
noticed how the fan driven web sites grinded to a halt if only
because of the new version of the book.
Best MonumentsThe
elements of the classic characters are back, as well as the Gideon
Board, Gideon who was a classic rather cheesy villain. The story hits a
couple of interesting points, on the business side of the team as well
as the battle with one of the teams oldest foes, Diablo, who is
finally rather fearful. The story brings out a number of fearful
elements in Diablo that has never been seen. Fans could finally
understand the power he's possessed and how the character has lasted so
long. Fans also get a glimpse into
the history of Diablo, which his past has been told in portions here
and there, but never in such a whole.
Weak Points-Out of all
the villains created, Diablo has always been one of the worst. Stan
Lee's has said on many occations that out of all the Fantastic Four's
villains, Diablo will always be his least favorite. He was handled
quite well though considering the weakness of the character.
I was a little confused on the
easy that Reed handed over the pattens to the Gideon foundation.
Considering the shady past with the company and its villainous
descendants, surely it would had been a better choice not to trust them
with such power.
Over all rating-4 out of 4 flares, easily.
This story will set the foundation for many more to
come. |
